Working with an injury, illness or disability

The Stay at Work/Return to Work Program provides support for UBC faculty and staff who are dealing with an injury, illness or disability. It offers faculty and staff the information and services they need to keep working, or to return to work while managing a medical impairment or disability.

Who qualifies for the program

The Stay at Work/Return to Work Program is for UBC Vancouver staff and faculty and can help you if you're currently:

  • off work due to an illness, injury or disability
  • working, but have been finding work challenging due to a medical condition or impairment.

If you were injured while in the workplace, you may need to file a claim with WorkSafeBC. Here’s some additional information about injuries in the workplace.

If you are based at the Okanagan campus review the WRAP information on the UBCO HR website

Get ergonomic support

UBC's ergonomics program can help investigate any incidents that have contributing factors related to ergonomics, and can provide an ergonomics assessment to help adjust tasks or equipment to make your work safer.

Receive follow-up services

If the accident or incident involved exposure to human blood or body fluid, or other potentially infectious agents, the occupational and preventive health team will contact you. They may recommend an appointment with the occupational health nurse or follow-up lab testing.
